Elusive UK producer Gold Panda issues his first full-length on Ghostly International, following up his critically-acclaimed work for Ghostly and Various Production. 'Lucky Shiner' experiments on the edge of indie-electronica and hip-hop with a distinct pop appeal. Highly Recommended.

              Hotflush Recordings, London

Ever wondered how a DJ Koze interpretation of Tom Waits singing in the shower might sound during a FWD dance? Dominic Maker and Kai Campos can show you. Surfacing as Mount Kimbie in 2009 with a couple of blinding dubstep tracks, the duo's distinctive sound catapulted them straight into future garage heaven. Surfacing as Mount Kimbie in 2009 with a couple of blinding dubstep tracks, the duo's distinctive sound catapulted them straight into future garage heaven. Their debut EP was picked up by Scuba's Hotflush label, now a leading force in the genre and home to like-minded dubstep dons and hi-tech house heroes such as Joy Orbison and Untold. However, Mount Kimbie's organic hybrid sound is a different one, with influences of post rock, dreamy pop and minimal techno as well as dubstep from the likes of Burial and Shackleton. Their first album 'Crooks & Lovers' released in 2010 received a high amount of critical acclaim. It saw them floating through dubstep, hip hop, techno, ambient, UK garage, post rock and film scores. In this Headphone Highlights Mount Kimbie share their diverse influences.

              Dial, Laid, Berlin

Okay, you all know about the proverbial elevator that got stuck and had Kraftwerk in the company of George Clinton. But what if that same elevator got stuck with Mark Hollis, a sedated Adonis, Bonny Prince Billy plus Chez Damier & Ron Trent in it? To make it really packed, let's squeeze in The Smiths as well. Sounds a bit forced, but this cross-pollination is somehow a way to give you an idea of John Roberts' music. The young gentleman...

The young gentleman might have never been influenced by these people, but his releases for Hamburg's prime outfits Dial and Laid or his very first 12" for John Daly's Feelmusic resonate tender indie moments as much as the more contemplative history of house music. Asked by Carsten Jost, Pantha Du Prince and Lawrence in 2008 to be the first American artist on the influential German Dial Records imprint, his work for them has received major accolades for its distinct and refined aesthetic. Roberts currently lives in Berlin and performs regularly in Europe's preeminent clubs and is about to release his debut album Glass Eights. Step into his world with this live set from 2010's Nachtdigital festival. Strong and tender!
